The IRU is looking for candidates who demonstrate innovation and excellence in supporting and promoting sustainable mobility by bus and coach for the 2015 Smart Awards.

Today the International Road Transport Union (IRU) is launching a call for candidates for the IRU City Trophy 2015, the IRU Bus Excellence Award 2015 and the IRU Coach Tourism Innovation Award 2015. The aim is to showcase the best of what our industry does and how it promotes a greater use of buses and coaches.
The awards underpin and support the objectives of the Smart Move campaign to double the use of buses and coaches by 2025. They also promote the bus and coach values of affordability, safety, environmental performance, efficiency and user-friendliness.
IRU Vice President and President of the IRU Passenger Transport Council (CTP), Yves Mannaerts, said, "Buses and coaches are the backbone of the sustainable mobility chain. We created these awards to showcase the best within our sector, demonstrating the commitment of the bus and coach industry and pioneer authorities to meet the increasing demand for sustainable passenger transport, while making bus and coach services even more user-friendly and passenger focused".
The IRU City Trophy 2015 rewards municipal authorities that implement policies favouring group tourism by coach and which also showcase an outstanding and comprehensive quality policy that fulfils all Smart Move campaign objectives, thus constituting a model for many cities in the world.
The IRU Bus Excellence Awards 2015 promotes high quality, cost-effective and innovative projects from public or private bus/coach companies that allow a greater use of regular urban and interurban public transport by bus and coach.
The IRU Coach Tourism Innovation Award 2015 recognises any private transport company worldwide that implements best practices leading to a greater use of group tourism by coach and that also inspires other companies.
Candidates must submit their application dossiers to the IRU Permanent Delegation to the EU by by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org, by mail, or by fax at +32-2-743 25 99, by 15 July 2015 at the latest, specifying for which Smart Award they wish to be considered.
