China’s Elevated Transit Bus on the road for its first test

The world’s first elevated transit bus has been recently tested in the Chinese city of Qinhuangdao in Hebei province. The 2m-high and 22m-long bus runs on electricity and can carry up to 300 passengers while cars can drive underneath it.

Hungarian city purchases large fleet of green buses

The city of Nyíregyháza in Hungary has decided to enlarge its public transport fleet with cleaner vehicles. The roads of Nyíregyháza will soon see 41 buses fuelled by compressed natural gas and six electric buses.

Major automaker begins testing of automated buses

Daimler’s first self-driving city bus has been recently seen on the road in the Netherlands. The Mercedes-Benz Future Bus was tested on a 20 kilometre-long route, part of Europe’s longest BRT, in Amsterdam.

New mobile learning app helps drivers to familiarise with Scania’s coaches

Scania has developed a mobile app aimed at helping drivers and operators to get familiarised with the two-axle and three-axle Touring coach. The app, designed to act as an easily accessible vehicle guide, covers 27 areas of the coach with short videos explaining their functioning in a simple, non-technical way.

UK guided busway provides rapid connections to bus travelers

Part of Transport for Greater Manchester’s (TfGM) bus priority investment package, a 4.5-mile bus-only guideway between Leigh, Tyldesley and Ellenbrook was put into service in April this year. Thanks to its unique concrete track, the busway provides super-smooth and rapid connections for passengers.

Flash-charging e-buses soon to run in Geneva

Transports Publics Genevois has awarded a $16 million contract to ABB to provide flash charging and on-board electric vehicle technology for 12 TOSA buses. The innovative technology allows buses to connect to the charging point in less than 1 second and to charge in only 15 seconds at the bus stop.
