Substantially increasing the number of users of collective passenger transport by road: bus, coach, taxi.
The objective and mandate is to establish a representative ad-hoc public-private High Level Group (HLG) of leading public and private stakeholders. Together they will work out a joint vision, as well as policy and business recommendations, and a short-, medium-, and long-term Action Plan (“road map”) on removing existing barriers and facilitating bus and coach transport and taxis in India, with the objective to increase substantially the number of users of collective passenger transport modes by 2030.
Composed of representatives of urban development, transport and tourism authorities at national and state level, interested governmental and non-governmental organisations active in mobility and travel, relevant bus and coach and taxi trade associations and/or leading companies, with a possibility to invite ad hoc specific stakeholders for specific topics.
The HLG meets according to needs but, in principle, every 3 months, in India.
The HLG’s expected outcomes are:
- A joint vision on the role and place of collective passenger transport by bus, coach and taxi in transport system.
- Policy and business recommendations ("road map") on how to facilitate bus/coach/taxi transport in India, with the objective to increase the number of users of collective passenger transport modes by 2030.
- A set of best policy and business practices on the relevant issues.
Calendar: The HLG will operate for a period of up to 12 months.
