SNCF learns to make the smart move and takes to the road.

20 March 2012 – SNCF has seen the benefits of bus travel and confirmed at an IRU conference in Brussels its intention to launch long distance regular lines in France. The routes will initially compete with Eurolines on the Paris-London route in time for the London Olympics. The new subsidiary will be called ‘Speed’ and has placed orders for 50 new coaches.

The services will be run on a ‘cabotage’ basis as the necessary French legislation will not be in place before the French Presidential elections.

Eurolines has reacted by slashing fares and offering additional services such as free wi-fi from this month. All good news for the customer wanting to travel to the Olympic games in London this summer.
