Smart Move welcomes innovative new partner Busbud: the bus travel companion

The Smart Move campaign continues to expand its global footprint by welcoming on board its latest partner – Canadian based worldwide intercity bus schedule and information website: Busbud. All bus companies are invited to pool in and increase their ridership.

25 February 2013 - The Smart Move team is delighted to welcome yet another new partner to the campaign, continuing the expansion of supporters working to double bus and coach use over the next 10 years.

The new partner is Montreal based start-up Busbud, the self-described Kayak for bus travel, whose user-friendly bus schedule and information platform was featured in our November 2012 Smart Move Newsletter.

The Busbud platform and smartphone app offer a search tool allowing travellers to discover and plan their next bus trip. The app makes booking easier, aggregating over 10,000 bus routes from 4000 cities in 60 countries around the world.

Busbud also brings together a community of both experienced and new travellers, integrated with Facebook comments for peer review and story sharing. The site also includes guest travel bloggers who are available to give advice.

“We have a jump start in this market for bus travel because we have the most geographically diverse data. … People like the bus already, we just want to make it simpler to search bus routes and book your tickets,” said CEO Louis-Philippe Maurice.

However, Busbud’s everyday concern is to continually update their database. “There’s so many more cities to cover and even in the cities that we have, there’s so many more bus companies that we don’t know about,” said Maurice. “There’s so many places where the bus is present.”

A clear call to all bus companies willing to fill up their buses! We in the Smart Move team look forward to working with Busbud and developing the Smart Move campaign footprint. Welcome on board!
