Smart Move in France

End of March 2010, the French Federation of Passenger Transport, FNTV, held its traditional Coach Tourism Spring Event (Printemps du Tourisme en Autocar), with the participation of some 60 bus and coach company leaders. Smart Move was invited to talk about the economic, safety and environmental advantages of travelling by coach, and to present best practices and innovative approaches, that facilitate coach tourism in Europe.

Michel Seyt, President of FNTV:

Tomorrow’s travelling patterns must consider clean, soft, environmentally-friendly and affordable means of transport, to ensure an eco-friendly and accessible mobility to all…And the coach meets all these requirements.

At its annual Congress, on 14 October 2009, the FNTV co-signed, together with the ADEME, the French Environmental Agency, and CNAMTS, the French Health Insurance Organisation, a dedicated charter to promote sustainable development and road safety. This charter aims at promoting coach transport and the advantages it brings in terms of sustainable mobility. In addition, it supports and further develops the actions taken already by the bus and coach industry with the objective to implement a set of simple and efficient targeted actions in favour of our customers, our employees and the environment.

With that in mind, the FNTV has committed itself to support the international “Smart Move” campaign, coordinated by the International Road Transport Union (IRU).”
