Safe, green, affordable bus and coach transport for India

IRU, ASRTU (the Association of State Road Transport Undertakings) and Busworld Academy joined forces to organise the congress within Busworld India 2016 in Bengaluru, “Bus and coach – a smart transportation system for India”.

With presentations ranging from road safety and coach tourism to electro-mobility and bus market regulation, the focus was on technology and future trends in mass transport, while the needs of people and quality of life remained the chief considerations.

IRU outlined the work of the All India Smart Move high level group, which is establishing a clear action plan on safe, green affordable and sustainable transport in India with policy recommendations on how to substantially increase the use of buses, coaches and taxis by 2030.

Bringing together Indian and international mobility experts, public and private bus operators, bus builders and authorities to exchange ideas for the further improvement of the mobility services on Indian roads, participants included speakers from Volvo Bus Corporation, India Smart Grid forum, Busworld Academy and Bus Operators Confederation of India.

Busworld India 2016 is a B2B exhibition in the bus and coach industry, for 250 bus and coach manufacturers and their suppliers, with more than 6000 customers. This is the 7th edition of Busworld India and took place in Bengaluru, India from 10 to 12 November 2016.
