Road map for India’s bus and taxi mobility finalised today

The All-India Smart Move High Level Group met in New Delhi on 8 May 2017 to finalise recommendations for the development of an efficient, safe and affordable bus and taxi mobility system in India.

The public-private group has worked together to produce a joint vision, as well as policy and business recommendations. A short, medium, and long term action plan for removing existing barriers and facilitating sustainable bus, coach and taxi services in India has been developed. The objective is to substantially increase the number of users of collective passenger transport modes by 2030.

Concluding the work of the group, participants met to discuss and endorse final recommendations on urban mobility, electromobility, long distance bus transport, group tourism by bus and intermediate public transport for India. The final report will be published in June.

Initiated by IRU as part of its Smart Move Campaign, the high level group of leading Indian and international transport stakeholders was launched in New Delhi in 2015.
