Preparing the road passenger transport for the mobility schemes of the future

The digital age has opened up new opportunities for collective passenger transport to improve customer experience. Offering tailor made transport solutions based on the individual mobility needs with the help of the smart technology is the idea behind the MaaS (Mobility-as-a-Service) concept. MaaS is the integration of various forms of transport modes into a single mobility service accessible on demand. It combines all possible transport modes, enabling users to access services through a single account with a monthly fee. Buses will have a key role to play in this innovative mobility scheme.

However, there are still issues relating to users, legal framework and incentives, technologies and standardisation that need to be tackled in order to accelerate the deployment of MaaS.

These issues will be addressed in a workshop organised by IRU and MaaS Alliance on 3 May 2017 in Brussels. The workshop will provide an opportunity for passenger transport operators, policy makers and other involved stakeholders to exchange views on this disruptive, yet key trend for the future of mobility.
