EU White Paper suggests buses for future long distance, intercity & urban transp

The EU White Paper "Roadmap to a Single European Transport Area – Towards a competitive and resource efficient transport system" identifies buses as one of the best solutions for long-distance and intercity travel, and urban transport and commuting, highlighting the significant increase in fuel costs and congestion levels by 2030, which will lead to divergences in transport accessibility.

The EU White Paper envisions the increased use of buses as future solutions, as they can provide adequate capacity and improve overall travel experience in long-distance travel, such as minimum hassle for personal security screening and bring people from airports to railway stations. The White Paper also suggests buses to be combined with other modes of transport to provide intercity multimodal transport- their near-zero casualties, making them the safest mode of road transport.
