'Better Bus Ride' wins Transport Achievement Award 2011

Arriva Denmark received the International Transport Forum’s Transport 2011 Achievement award for its “Better Bus Ride” Project in Leipzig, Germany on 26 May 2011.

The "Better Bus Ride" project improves the transport experience for both clients and personnel in ingenuous ways, for example: bus staff talks with clients at the bus stop to learn about their needs; a specially organised flash mob celebrates the birthday of a bus driver. Whether talking with clients to adjust schedules and capacity or providing 'on bus' IT communication services, whether through driver education or improving social cohesion in the mechanical service areas, "Better Bus Ride" sees transport not as a manufactured product, but as a service that provides a user-friendly transport experience.

“The way that the ‘Better Bus Project’ succeeds in putting people first, customers as well as employees, is an outstanding example of user-friendly transport”, said Jack Short, former Secretary General of the International Transport Forum on the occasion of the award presentation during the annual summit of Transport Ministers.
