IRU promotes bus & coach facilitation

IRU brought together last month, in Minsk, leading representatives from national authorities, transport associations and leaders of industry from Belarus, Belgium, Germany, Latvia, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine to discuss and share best practices on important aspects of facilitating international bus and coach travel.

Over the last 15 years the passenger transport industry has changed significantly as a result of innovation, new technology, greener buses and coaches, better trained drivers and managers, and improved regulation. The EU experience has demonstrated that a harmonised legal base, unified standards and rules, as well as an elimination of border-crossing barriers can be a driver for improved bus and coach connections and the benefits they bring.

Participants adopted a resolution, based on their discussions, that outlines the further steps and actions to be taken by the stakeholders regarding access to the market, professional competence and fleet renewal in order to further facilitate international bus and coach travel.
