The coolest bus in the world?
The first fully working version of the New Bus for London (NBfL), formerly described as a "21st century Routemaster", has been unveiled in Northern Ireland with the UK capital's mayor, Boris Johnson at the wheel of what he called "a beautiful, beautiful thing". The mayor emphasised the bus's "contemporary take" on some elements of the Routemaster's design, including its interior lighting and grooved flooring on the staircases and entrance, and stressed its environmental advantages.

Massive BRT plan to boost Chicago city transport
A massive $1.23bn bus rapid transit scheme is being proposed for Chicago to address its transport needs. The proposal would add dedicated bus lanes, pre-paid fares, level boarding at defined stations every half-mile, and signal prioritisation to 95 miles of streets on ten corridors. The plan would see buses every 5-10mins and significantly improve connections with existing transport lines.

Amphibious tour bus makes its debut in Amsterdam
A new tour of Amsterdam departing directly from the city’s airport has just launch – literally! The new route uses purpose built amphibious buses and offers customers a tour on Amsterdam’s canals as well as its roads. The new tour is aimed at the 1 million air passengers a year that have long airport transfers and are looking to see something of the heart of the famous city.

Korea green Peanut Bus grows interest worldwide
The city of Seoul, South Korea, has debuted its new electric bus, Namsan Electric Bus. Seoul’s newest form of public transport and the latest trophy in terms of green initiatives for the Seoul Metropolitan Government is a significant milestone for the city-wide efforts to go green. The buses, which are also dubbed Peanut Buses because of their distinctive look can carry 1,000-3,000 passengers a day and up to 47 passengers per trip.

More buses as Poland goes long distance
Polskibus has announced a multi-million Euro investment in 50 new coaches for its Polish business.The investment will expand its coach fleet to 68 vehicles, all of which meet the latest Euro 5 emissions standards and offer free wi-fi, leather seats and air conditioning. They will be used to offer journeys for as little as 1 Zloty (=€0.22).
