Busworld India hears of major investment in bus services across the country

This year’s Busworld India has recently concluded and proved to be a huge success. Not only were there a high volume of bus and coach sales but the exhibition also heard about major investment plans by the Indian Government in bus services across the country.

Held in Mumbai from 1 to 3 February 2013, Busworld India followed the well-established tradition of Busworld Kortrijk, where IRU will be holding its 8th Bus and Coach Forum in hosting an exhibition and parallel conferences where key concerns of the Indian industry and the wider global market, such as road safety and sustainable mobility solutions, were addressed by Indian and international experts.

The architect of the Indian Government’s plan under which stimulus funds were made available by the Central Government to provide 15,000 buses for service in 68 cities throughout the country chaired the final panel discussion of the event. At the discussion he announced an expansion of the bus investment plan, revealing plans to provide funding for 18,000 new more new city buses.
