Long distance bus wins over train and plane

20 January 2012 - At the ANAV (Italian bus and coach federation) conference held in December in Rome, results of academic research into passenger transport over long distances using quality criteria and journey costs managed to surprise the audience: the bus is likely to be winning over airplane and train.

Political and industry leaders admitted that despite the outstanding performance outlined by the research, the bus and coach industry remains a little-known segment of the market.

ANAV President, Giuseppe Vinella, stressed: “the study demonstrate that the bus companies, who do not benefit from any public subsidies, can meet the challenge of modal competition by cooperating with each other.”
