10% cut in price of hybrid buses for London

London has been able to secure a 10% cut in the price of hybrid buses in 2016 as a result of demonstrating the global demand for clean buses through the C40 Clean Bus Declaration.

 

The C40 Clean Bus Declaration is led by the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group. Its objective is to influence manufacturers, public transport operators, leasing companies, multilateral development banks and other funding agencies to support city ambitions to decarbonise urban mass transport. So far, 26 global cities have signed the Declaration with London being one of the cities paving the way to a low-carbon bus future. The plan is that all new buses in the British capital will be hybrid, electric or hydrogen by 2018.

 

In 2017, the transport initiative plans to support signatory cities in scaling up clean bus plans in multiple ways, including a Finance Academy in April 2017 in London, focused on clean bus financing.
